International Students

St. Mary's School welcomes students and their families from a variety of cultures and encourages language, song, dance and treasures of students be a visible part of our school community. To this end the Principal meets with members of the various ethnic groups in our school to discuss issues relating to their children's education and ways we can further integrate the celebration of culture within our school.

St. Mary's is a signatory to the Ministry of Education Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.

At it's August monthly meeting the Board of Trustees approved the enrolment of up to 20 international students in one calendar year.

For 2009, St. Mary’s School has set the following fee for International Students:


New Students

Annual fee $8,500
Administration fee of 10% (not refundable) $850

This Annual Fee includes school uniform and initial start up stationery requirements and also covers fees for school trips, camps and other incidentals which will be paid for by school families.   Other costs from this fee include the employment of additional teachers and teacher aides who work with our International Students especially on their English programmes and the payment of the New Zealand Government and Catholic Schools Office special levies.

 
This fee does not include the purchase of school shoes, coats and jackets, school bags, dental, health or medical expenses.

 
It is compulsory that all International Students have health, travel and medical insurance.   Verified copies of these documents will need to be sighted at the time of enrolment.
